Who said summer gets to have all the fun?

As the snow starts falling here and there, and the crisp, cold air starts nipping at your nose, rather than cozying up on the couch, why not bundle up and head outside! The mountains are calling.

Put on your favourite toque, mitts and jacket and get ready to have a flurry of fun in Vancouver this winter. We’ve curated a list of events that everyone can enjoy, from skating and markets to a month of dining and amazing light displays. Plus, snap a pic with the one and only Santa—we’ve got all the details below.

Events & Activities

Bright Nights in Stanley ParkDecember 1, 2022 – January 1, 2023. Bundle up and come to Stanley Park for a magical evening. Food vendors will offer a great selection of comfort food like churros, pretzels, popcorn and hot chocolate. Once you’ve grabbed a snack, get a selfie with a firefighter, grab a candy cane, and get festive with the family in Santa’s Workshop.

Christmas Glow LangleyNovember 23, 2022 – December 31, 2022. Experience a family-friendly outdoor Christmas festival with towering light gardens and magical landscapes, all under more than a million lights. Attractions include a kids scavenger hunt, food trucks, a holiday train ride, pictures with Santa, a princess meet and greet, and a giant heated tent space featuring live performances and delicious holiday beverages.

Holiday Splash at Vancouver AquariumNovember 12, 2022 – January 3, 2023. Dive into oceans of holiday magic! Wave to Scuba Claus during his daily dives, snuggle up for family favourite holiday film: The Polar Express and delight in new seasonal sweets and treats all while surrounded by festive decor and 65,000 incredible animals.

Vancouver Christmas Market. November 12 – December 24, 2022. Stroll the twinkling pathways of a European-inspired Christmas village in the crisp winter air. Discover unique treasures with more than 80 artisan huts offering handcrafted gifts for everyone on your list. Festive foodies can sample Glühwein (mulled wine), a selection of German and Austrian beers, and a variety of sweet and savoury epicurean delights.

The Peak of Christmas. November 25 – January 2, 2023. Feel the enchantment and radiance of twinkling lights and the joy of witnessing real reindeer – only here at Vancouver’s North Pole. Enjoy the natural beauty of Blue Grouse Lake, lit by breathtaking light installations. Plus, experience tranquil beauty when skating on our 8,000 sq. ft. mountaintop pond surrounded by snow-topped trees.

New Year’s Eve Yacht PartyDecember 31, 2022. The biggest adventure of 2022 is a party in the middle of the sea on a #FloatingNightClub. Celebrate NYE on the water and see a display of fireworks while sipping and sailing through False Creek, English Bay, and into the inner harbour.

New Year’s Day Polar Bear Swims. January 1, 2023. The English Bay Polar Bear Swim is one of the longest-running events of its kind in the world. Rain or shine, crowds of Vancouverites show up to either take part in or watch a crazy Canadian tradition. Everyone dresses warmly, many have cameras, some are in costume and about two thousand or so arrive with swimsuits underneath their clothes ready to take the plunge.

Canyon Lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge. November 19 – January 22, 2023. Ready, set, glow! The world-famous bridge is lit end-to-end with a changing multi-colour display where you can gaze at the illuminated Capilano River below. Journey into a glowing rainforest and walk high above the forest floor on Treetops Adventure’s seven suspended bridges, twinkling from treetop to forest floor.

Skating at the Shipyards. December – February. The Shipyards is home to the biggest outdoor skating rink in the region and features other festive winter events through the month of December. And for the whole holiday season, there are plenty of beautiful lights to see.

Dine Out Vancouver FestivalJanuary 20 – February 5, 2023. Bringing together hundreds of chefs, more than 300 restaurants, wineries, craft breweries, suppliers and more. Participate in this month of dining, food-forward virtual events and experiences designed to give culinary enthusiasts the opportunity to taste the best flavours of the city.

Thomas Rhett: Bring The Bar To You TourFebruary 9, 2023. Don’t miss seeing Thomas Rhett, also known as “the most reliable maker of No. 1 singles in country music” as he performs his “Bring the Bar to You” Tour for Canadian audiences!

Snap an unforgettable family picture with the holly jolly man in charge, Santa! Here are the top spots for Santa pics this holiday season.

Park Royal Shopping Centre. Enjoy a traditional visit and photo with Santa from November 17- December 24Reservations are recommended but walk-ins are welcome.

Santa at Glow Langley. Come whisper your Christmas wishlist to Santa and snap a memorable picture. Mondays to Fridays from 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 1:30 pm to 9:00 pm.

Metropolis at Metrotown. Bring the family and your wishlist from November 15 to December 23.
