Virtual Canada Day Ideas

This year, Canada Day will be celebrated a little differently. The usual flooding of the streets to celebrate will be replaced with virtual events across the nation.

For family friendly activities, Canadian Heritage has put together a variety of activity packs for kids to do on Canada Day including colouring, scavenger hunts, photo contests and more.

British Columbia

Surrey Virtual Canada Day.  Featuring musical performances by Colin James, Bif Naked, Madeline Merlo and more and will also include virtual tours, Indigenous and other cultural performances, dance lessons, a rodeo tribute and a virtual firework finale.

Victoria Canada Day Virtual Run.  Virtual half marathon, 10K and 5K race.


Calgary Virtual Canada Day.  Virtual 1-hour concert featuring Paul Brandt and more.


Saskatoon Virtual Canada Day. Virtual celebration featuring Saskatchewan talent starting at 10am.


Manitoba Virtual Canada Day.  One-hour variety show featuring some of Manitoba’s best and most diverse talents in the areas of music, comedy, dance, art, skateboarding, spoken word, DJs and much more.


City of Toronto Virtual Canada Day.  Featuring a virtual Canadian pancake breakfast, Culture Jam with Kardinal Offishall and Prime Time shows by Gordon Lightfoot and more.

CN Tower Canada Day.  15-minute light show beginning at 10 pm that will be livestreamed.

Mississauga Virtual Canada Day Celebration.  Global news and ET Canada host virtual interviews and musical performances.

Vaughan Virtual Canada Day.  Featuring the Barenaked Ladies.

Richmond Hill Virtual Canada Day.  Featuring live entertainment and family-friendly activities.

Brampton’s Canada Day Celebration.  Virtual events begin at 12pm with virtual firework show at 10pm. Recently added in-person activities include live entertainment, a tasty treat from local food vendors and a free Canada Day cookie at various locations.

Oakville Virtual Canada Day.  Enjoy musical performances, Canada Day themed challenges, a town-wide singing of O Canada, virtual fireworks display, and more.

Canada Day the Durham Way.  Featuring an exciting lineup of local performers and family friendly entertainment.

Pickering Canada Day at Home.  Featuring entertainment, music and a virtual fireworks show.

Markham’s Virtual Canada Day.  Featuring speakers, live entertainment, a drumming circle and virtual fireworks.

Canadian Museum of Nature Canada Day.  Learn about the maple leaf, take the online museum tour, make chalk paint, draw our provincial flowers, or make a sweet Canadian treat.

Arnprior Community Singing of O’ Canada. Residents of Arnprior are invited for a group singing on O’ Canada starting at 9am.

Cornwall’s Virtual Canada Day Celebrations.  From 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. there will be performances by favourite local bands and messages from local and regional leaders.


Fête du Canada Day MTL 2020. A one-hour event starting at 7pm teeming with artistic performances filmed in the Olympic Stadium.

City of St. John’s Celebrates Canada Day.  Featuring local celebrities, exciting musical performances and much more.
